The baskets are made out of non-warping 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood.
They are cut out and decorated with a laser engraver. They are glued
together using Titebond III (waterproof wood glue) and pin nailed at
every joint. They are treated with Penofin (Brazilian Rosewood oil)
which is used to treat decks and are finished with a coat of wax. These
treatments make the baskets water and UV resistant. I recommend
customers maintain their baskets by applying an additional coat of
Penofin every several years, especially if their basket stays outside or
is in a harsh environment.
The attachment straps and leather inserts are made
out of water-resistant oilskin leather. I am going to look into other
materials that will work well in the salty Florida environment and will
let you know if I plan to change this piece of the design. The buckles
are nickel plated.
The attachment to the headset and the beverage tie-down are made out of shock-cord and cord-locks.
